Having lived abroad for over twelve years, artist IRMA GROS currently resides in central Texas. Those years abroad and her continued travels provided a reservoir of abundant ideas that influence her life and art. Now, living in the nestled hills and under the wide open skies of Texas, it is evident that her work is imbued with that quality.
Irma works in a variety of mediums, choosing oil, cold wax, acrylic and watercolor to express the mood or depth of the subject. “Finding words to express what I do is difficult for me. I paint from an intuitive reaction to the canvas and paint. I begin, progress and complete the work. Sometimes it comes quickly, at other times the painting seems to have a different idea leading me down an unexpected path of surprises.” She admires the quiet and structured nature of other artists work but she has come to accept that color is innate to her work. She cannot deny the truth of who she is as an artist.
Irma’s style has been described as ethereal, much of it is but the artist would hope that her art is found to be diverse and ever evolving. The viewer will, after all, extract his own meaning in her work.
